Manatees in the Wild, Florida

This is a picture I took at Blue Spring State Park in Orange City FL of swimming manatees in the wild in the beautifully clear water of Blue Spring off the St. Johns River.  They migrate back to Blue Spring every fall and stay through the winter because the water there is 72 degrees year round and they can’t tolerate colder water.  I can’t describe how amazing it is when you see them in the wild, it’s overwhelming.  They are fascinating creatures to watch.  I feel the same way when I see wild dolphins too.  Sam and Stephanie got to touch them that day, they came right up to the dock we were standing on and a ranger was in the water with the manatees, it was such a cool experience for them and for me!
